Cheshire by viobear Cheshire by viobear
My first collaborative design. This is 100% pen tool done in Adobe Illustrator CS5. A lot of hours, a lot of music, and a lot of clicking. I hope you guys enjoy it.

''How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little lost souls in,
With gently smiling jaws!'' - the Caterpillar

I'd like to pull a formal critique, but I know jack squat about visual media--only what I think looks good. That said, this has a professional, crisp look to it that made me think of a dark comic. The decomposition of the poppy flower makes me wonder whether I am looking at smoke, or the raw, milky form of opium; it's a trippy sort of dichotomy that seems MADE for the Cheshire cat.

I'll keep a healthy distance from these claws that bite and teeth that scratch =D but I love this piece. I think it's a little better than the original since there's this contrast of the clarity in the visual, but with the fog (literal and figurative) of opium throughout.
